Italian Food by Region for Beginners

This course is a celebration of the unique dishes that define Italy’s many regions. Together, we will explore the rich variety of Italian cuisine while uncovering the cultural and historical stories behind each dish. The class is taught in a relaxed, potluck-style format, and students are encouraged (but not required) to prepare and bring a dish inspired by the region we’re studying each week. This class is designed for beginner-level students and offers a fun, social way to learn Italian.

Sessions – March 2026

Class Cancellation Policy & Refunds

A full course credit or refund can be requested prior to one week before the start of the course or workshop. If a student requests a refund, they will be charged a $30 fee.  We cannot issue any refunds after this period.

Meet Your Instructor

Michela Sodomaco
Michela SodomacoInstructor —Italian
I was born and raised in Italy, where I studied English and French. I moved to the United States in 1991 and lived in Texas and California before moving to Bend in 2010. I have a master’s in early childhood education and have been a teacher at St Francis Catholic School for the past four years. I love teaching students and adults my native language and culture. I have traveled extensively in Europe and had the opportunity to learn about other countries’ history, culture, and food. I love to cook and discover different cuisines and traditions. I believe learning a language is a journey into a country’s history, beliefs, and way of living.
