Everyday English for Beginners
Everyday English for Beginners is an introductory course for adults who want to use American English accurately and fluently. Grammar and vocabulary are taught and practiced thoroughly as we develop our reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. This course is designed for people who want to improve their fluency for professional development and everyday needs.
Inglés para Principiantes es un curso introductorio para adultos que desean usar el inglés americano con precisión y fluidez.
A lo largo del curso se enseñan y practican a fondo la gramática y el vocabulario, mientras desarrollamos las habilidades de lectura, escritura, expresión oral y comprensión auditiva.
Este curso está diseñado para personas que quieren mejorar su fluidez tanto para el desarrollo profesional como para la vida diaria.
Sessions – Fall 2026
Everyday English for Beginners will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2-3pm from September 29 – October 29. The class will be limited to 9 students to allow for ample opportunity for one-on-one language practice. Individual Tutoring
Private tutoring with an experienced teacher can help you improve your language skills while working around your schedule. We offer both in-person and remote one-on-one lessons to help you meet your language learning needs. Our language tutoring rate is $58 dollars per hour, and when you purchase your time in advance you can reduce that rate down to $53 per hour.
We also offer semi-private tutoring small groups youth and/or adults at an affordable price, so you can have fun learning with your friends. MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Lindsey Bakos
English Speakers of Other Languages Instructor
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Modern Languages and History and a Master of Education in ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages). For more than fifteen years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching English to students from a wide range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds. My experience includes teaching in private language schools, at the community college level, and online with students throughout East Asia.
In addition to teaching at Bend Language Institute, I work as the International Student Coordinator and Learning Lab Manager at OSU-Cascades, where I support international students as they pursue their academic and personal goals. Helping students build confidence in their language skills and achieve their dreams is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.
When I’m not teaching or advising students, you’ll usually find me exploring the outdoors. I love camping, hiking, kayaking, reading, cooking, and traveling whenever I get the chance. I look forward to meeting you and being part of your language-learning journey!
