Mandarin for Kids

Are you interested in helping your child learn Mandarin with a few of their peers? This summer and fall we are organizing cohorts of youth according to their grade and language level. Some of our students are just starting to learn Mandarin, while others are native speakers looking to improve their skills. Whether your child is in elementary school or high school, we can help match them with other students for an engaging learning experience!

Students may either learn at our open-air classroom or via Zoom, an interactive platform that enables remote face to face meetings between teachers and students. With groups of 3-5 students we hope make language learning affordable and fun. If you are interested in joining a small group, please send us the age, language level of your child, and preferred learning method (in-person or Zoom) so we can help organize a group that best fits your family’s needs. You can email bendlanguageinstitute@gmail.com and we will be happy to help.

The Language of Chinese Food

Perhaps everyone has tried Chinese pot stickers at a Chinese restaurant, but did you know that authentic dumplings in China are very different from the ones you have tried here? In this course we will learn different traditional recipes through the Chinese language and eat our delicious food. If you like Chinese food and want to expand your food vocabulary in Mandarin, please come to our class!

Sessions

Currently we are not offering this workshop due to concerns around COVID-19. Please check back in the future for updates or email us at bendlanguageinstitute@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Private Tutor

Don’t let the current climate limit your language learning progress! Given concerns around COVID-19, our teachers are happy to meet with you digitally for one-on-one instruction. Over your phone or computer, you can speak face-to-face while sharing files, video clips, short stories, written exercises and more. Meeting with a teacher is a great way to improve your language skills through interactive conversations and exercises.

Our language tutoring rate of $43 dollars per hour is the best you’ll find in town, and when you purchase your time in advance you can reduce that rate down to just $37 per hour. With individual tutoring, you can work with your teacher to find a time that works for both of you. We also offer semi-private tutoring for 2-4 youth and/or adults at an affordable price, so you can have fun learning with your friends.  You can see more information about this by scrolling down to the bottom of the page.

If you are new to Bend Language Institute, send us an email at bendlanguageinstitute@gmail.com or give us a call at 541-728-3022 and we will be happy to put you in touch with a local teacher. You will have the opportunity to speak with a teacher about your language learning needs and get set up to learn a language from the comfort of your own home.
