Introductory Mandarin Chinese I

Mandarin is the fastest growing language in the world and important for international travel and business, or if you just want to learn more about Chinese history and culture. This eight-week course is designed to target individual student’s needs, learning styles, and interests. It is taught by a native Mandarin speaker who can help you with pronunciation and everyday expressions.

Sessions – Spring 2024

Mandarin for Kids

Mandarin for Kids is beginning in Summer 2022! Mandarin for Kids is designed to provide a fun and interactive learning environment for kids ages 7-11. We will play games, draw, sing, all while learning words and the basics of writing in the Mandarin language. This immersion class is an exciting way to introduce your children to the Mandarin language and Chinese culture.

The Language of Chinese Food – Dumplings

Perhaps everyone has tried Chinese pot stickers at a Chinese restaurant, but did you know that authentic dumplings in China are very different from the ones you have tried here? In this course we will learn different traditional recipes through the Chinese language. If you like Chinese food and want to expand your food vocabulary in Mandarin, please come to our class!

Individual Tutoring

Private tutoring with an experienced teacher can help you improve your language skills while working around your schedule. We offer both in-person and remote one-on-one lessons to help you meet your language learning needs. Our language tutoring rate is $50 dollars per hour, and when you purchase your time in advance you can reduce that rate down to $46 per hour.

We also offer semi-private tutoring for 2-3 youth and/or adults at an affordable price, so you can have fun learning with your friends. Translation & Proofreading Services

Bend Language Institute is currently offering translation services in Spanish, Italian, French, and Mandarin. With written translation services we can assist individuals and organizations with professional emails exchanges, translation of documents and articles, and full-length books. Our translation price ranges from $0.12-$0.18 per word in the original language depending on language, document type, and length of document.  Proofreading services are also available, and pricing varies according to document type and length. We charge a minimum of $50 per service.

I graduated with a degree in law in China before moving to Bend, Oregon in 2005. Upon moving to Oregon, I started teaching Mandarin to both young children and adults. Teaching has now been my profession for the last 14 years. The saying, “Being a teacher means being a good teacher,” has become part of my nature. I love teaching my native language to people and working with them on a daily basis. I like to make language learning fun and I hope to meet you soon!

I was born in Beijing, China and graduated with a degree of law. Before moving to Bend, I helped students learn Mandarin Chinese in Portland. Teaching my native language comes naturally to me. I love to share not only the language, but the culture behind it. I believe that communication is a universal tool and I enjoy helping people connect through language.
