Join Us For A South African School Fundraiser
Did you know that South Africa has 11 official languages, several ethnic groups with distinct cultural traditions, stunning national parks filled with wildlife, and some of the best wines in the world?
On Monday, July 27, from 5:30–7:00 pm, we are hosting an interactive fundraiser with local nonprofit Bend Education Initiative. During this workshop, we’ll explore some of the amazing cultural and linguistic features of South Africa, from Cape Town to Johannesburg, Kruger National Park to the Wild Coast. We’ll share highlights of the country’s rich history, along with personal experiences that showcase the beauty of its people and places. Participants will have the opportunity to learn a few basic Zulu phrases and sample traditional Zulu dishes and beverages. We would love to have you join us!
This workshop is a fundraiser, and all proceeds will go directly toward supporting a fantastic low-income school in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. We’ll learn about the history of this remarkable school and current projects that support its students and faculty.
Local travel designers Alexis and Nelle will also share information about their family-friendly and luxury South African tours and host a raffle benefiting the school project. If you’ve ever considered traveling to South Africa, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about what the country has to offer.
The suggested contribution for the workshop is $30–$60 per person, and additional donations are warmly welcomed. The event will be hosted at Bend Language Institute.
RSVPs are required so we can prepare enough food and send additional event information. To RSVP, please email bendedinitiative@gmail.com.
Bend Education Initiative is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and all donations are tax-deductible. To learn more about Bend Education Initiative or make a donation, please visit: bendeducationinitiative.org
