Spanish for Youth

This Spanish class is designed for youth ages 11-13 who have had little exposure to the Spanish language. In this class, youth will learn to talk about family, friends, hobbies and more. They will practice their language skills through reading and writing short stories, songs, and games. It’s an ideal class for youth looking to learn Spanish for the first time or reinforce what they have been learning in school over the summer. Our group is limited to 10 students to ensure plenty of one-on-one language practice with our teacher.

Sessions – Summer 2022 Session 1

Spanish for Youth Session 1 is a three-week session. The class will meet July 11 – 27 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11am-12pm at our institute. Our second session of this class will meet August 1 – 17 at the same times provided student interest.

Meet your Instructor

Mila Mennealy
Mila MennealyInstructor —Spanish
I was born in El Salvador. My family moved to the USA when I was five years old. I was raised in a Spanish speaking household and my parents always encouraged me to learn English and Spanish. Once my youngest son graduated high school, I returned to school and earned my Bachelor in Elementary Education and Master of Education through George Fox University. The last 15 years I have worked for the Oregon Department of Justice, Child Support Program. Currently, I am their Limited English Proficiency Coordinator and translator. My passion has always been with teaching elementary aged students, and the last two years I have taken that passion and love for Spanish into the classroom as a Dual Language Kindergarten Teacher. I enjoy reading, long walks, riding my mountain bike, and traveling with my sons and being exposed to diverse cultures and creating new friendships. I am excited to share my passion and love for Spanish with BLI students.
