Spanish for Kids

This Spanish youth group will help your children with basic conversation skills in an interactive and fun environment. Designed for youth ages 6-10, students will master their language skills through games, short stories, music, writing and artwork. This class is for students with limited exposure to the Spanish language. Our group is limited to 10 students to ensure plenty of one-on-one language practice with our teacher and to keep kids learning in a safe environment.

Sessions – Summer 2022 Session 2

Spanish for Kids Session 2 is a three-week session. The class will meet August 1 – 17 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30-10:30am at our institute. Students in this class are not required to have attended our summer session 1, however we recommend that they have some exposure to the Spanish language.

Meet your Instructor

Mila MennealyInstructor —Spanish

I was born in El Salvador. My family moved to the USA when I was five years old. I was raised in a Spanish speaking household and my parents always encouraged me to learn English and Spanish. Once my youngest son graduated high school, I returned to school and earned my Bachelor in Elementary Education and Master of Education through George Fox University. The last 15 years I have worked for the Oregon Department of Justice, Child Support Program. Currently, I am their Limited English Proficiency Coordinator and translator. My passion has always been with teaching elementary aged students, and the last two years I have taken that passion and love for Spanish into the classroom as a Dual Language Kindergarten Teacher. I enjoy reading, long walks, riding my mountain bike, and traveling with my sons and being exposed to diverse cultures and creating new friendships. I am excited to share my passion and love for Spanish with BLI students.
