River Ecology in Spanish Workshop
Experience a fun day in nature while learning about ecology and expanding your Spanish language vocabulary in a natural history context. In this 3-hour workshop, students will walk along the Deschutes River with their guide, environmental scientist and Spanish instructor Armando Alcalde. During our walk, we will identify species, explore freshwater ecosystem concepts and discuss regional watershed topics-all in Spanish! We hope to inspire appreciation and respect for natural environments while improving our language skills. This class is designed for intermediate to advanced Spanish speakers. No ecology background is necessary. Discussions will be held mostly in Spanish though we’ll use English for translations and explanations whenever necessary. Adults and youth ages 16+ are welcome to attend. The cost is $60.
