Introductory Spanish (Part 1)

Introductory Spanish I is designed for students who have never taken a Spanish class before. At the end of the course you will reach basic proficiency in writing, reading, speaking and listening in Spanish. You will be familiar with a variety of topics, such as your family and friends, your likes/dislikes, food and hobbies and your daily routine. You will also be able to give directions, order in a restaurant, read menus and brochures and talk about the time.

Sessions – Summer 2021

For summer 2021, we are dividing Introductory Spanish into two parts that are each one month long. You can take the parts in sequence or only take one course depending on your language learning needs. We are offering two sessions for this course as each session is limited to 9 students. These classes will meet at our outdoor classroom and can move indoors in the event of bad weather.  Early registration discounts are available so please sign up in advance! Please specify which session you would like to register for when you check out.

Morning Session will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:45-11:45am from July 6 – July 29. This class will be taught by Ashlen Franco.

Afternoon Session will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30pm from July 5 – 28. This class will be taught by Armando Alcalde.

Early registration discount (by June 15): $175

Ashlen Franco
Ashlen FrancoInstructor —Spanish
I was born and raised in Bend and began my language learning journey when I moved to Madrid, Spain, where I lived and studied for a year. I continued to develop my Spanish skills by studying independently and speaking Spanish with my husband, who is from Cordoba, Argentina. I recently graduated with my Bachelors in Elementary Education and completed my student teaching in a dual-language Kindergarten class. In my free time, I volunteer my time as an interpreter in the community. I love helping others learn Spanish and experience the joy of communicating with new people and engaging with new cultures. My goal is to bring the Spanish language to life for my students!
